Direct Care Workers Fundamental Level 1 - $100.00
This course will provide the Direct Support Professional (DSP) with knowledge and skills necessary to effectively provide the service of attendant care. The course covers various topics related to ethical and legal issues, cultural competency, nutrition and much more. Upon completing the course the Direct Support Professional (DSP) will have also demonstrated various skills like proper hand washing, glove removal and proper body mechanics while lifting a 10lb. weight. Direct Care Worker Level 2 -Aging and Physical Disability $50.00
This course covers various topics such as chronic illness, physical disabilities and grief and end of life issues. The Direct Support Professional (DSP) will also learn how to properly transfer someone, drain a catheter, use a bedpan, and administer a bed bath. All done while being consistently coached on the importance of maintaining privacy and dignity. The Direct Support Professional (DSP) is given the tools to provide holistic support. These skills will prepare a DSP to provide the service of attendant care.
Direct care Worker Level 2 – Developmental Disability $50.00
This course will give the learner a solid foundation of knowledge and skills needed to support a person with developmental disabilities while providing the service of Attendant Care. Upon completion of the course the Direct Support Professional (DSP) will have covered various topics such as abuse and neglect, support plans and Positive Behavior Support. The Direct Support Professional (DSP) will also learn, practice and demonstrate physical skills (transfers, ambulation, etc.) that will not only keep the person being supported safe but the DSP as well.
Direct Care Worker Train the Trainer - $290.00
This course will prepare an instructor to teach the Direct Care Worker curriculum. In this Train the Trainer course you will learn how to properly manage DCW related documents, deliver the curriculum, and how properly test out students on physical skills. The potential instructor will test out on the written and physical skills test.
This course is required for those instructors who desire to teach the AHCCCS-approved Principles of Caregiving curriculum for the Arizona Direct Care Worker program.
Article 9 - $35.00
This course is an Arizona state law, specifically to Arizona’s Department of Economic Securities/Division of Developmental Disabilities. Anyone working for agencies, as independent providers or programs which are funded by the Division of Developmental Disabilities are required to follow Article 9. The foundation of Article 9 is Positive Behavior Supports for someone who may be having a difficult time communicating. It goes over the rights of the individuals we support, abuse, neglect and the reporting requirements. Article 9 breaks down teaching techniques that can be used to support someone who may be displaying challenging behaviors.
Prevention and Support - $55.00
Prevention and Support gives the Direct Support Professional (DSP) tools on how to de-escalate interfering conduct. The DSP will gain knowledge about how to better understand what the person supported may be communicating with their behavior. The student will learn why it is important to find out the function of a person’s behavior so a new replacement skill can be taught. Finally, if all least intrusive interventions have failed and imminent danger is present, the student will learn how to safely apply an emergency physical intervention technique.
Bloodborne Pathogens
(BBP) - $10.00
This training will help in the understanding of what BBPs are and why they are dangerous with basic information regarding HIV, Hepatitis B (HBV), and Hepatitis C (HVC), to teach routes of exposure, techniques to reduce risk of exposure, and use of personal protective equipment (PPE), respond safely to an emergency at work, and satisfy the OSHA annual training requirement in BBP awareness.
